Kathy, I have been following this thread for a while.

I have dozens of Australian BDM indexes I cite from various states. I don’t use
SourceWriter, but it seems to me you are trying to put too much information in
the Source Detail information field. Some of it can go in the Source Detail
text field. (You don't really need the headings)

For example for the Source Detail-
entry for Cecil Herbert Russell Watson, Reg no 5734/1950
or
entry for Cecil Herbert Russell Watson, 5734/1950

And

For the Source Detail Text-
Parents: Charles Russell and May
District: Kurri Kurri

However, if you want it all in Source Detail, add the Parents and District
there. Just not the headings.

Just a suggestion.

Regards,

Jennifer

This source type allows for a total of three fields "Item of Interest", "Date
Accessed", and "Credit Line"
I would much rather for at least Birth and Death Index results be able to enter
all of the details returned from the index search.
The number 1 reason for this is that the spelling of names, or the use of
preferred names rather than legal names, can differ to the point of things
appearing to be a different person entirely.
For example - birth registered as Lilian with mother Mary, death registered as
Lillian but no mother mentioned. Mother's death is registered incidentally as
May, and many of Mary's other children have their deaths registered with their
mother listed as May (such as Cecil's below).
These alternate names need to be sourced, and a very basic source doesn't read
well, and if I was to use the above sourcewriter template, I would still have
to have extra info in the Text/Comments area which doesn't format nicely when
included as part of a citation.
To be able to include all of these details into the source in the way that I am
able to with
Birth records > Birth Certificate > England > Birth certificate, index > Online
database
would be wonderful and a huge help.
The birth citation of
The Trustees of FreeBMD, "FreeBMD Birth Index 1837-1983,"
database(http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ : accessed 8 January 2014), entry for Cecil
Herbert R Watson, volume 1b, page 189, June quarter 1873, Pancras district;
citing the General Register Office's England and Wales Civil Registration
Indexes. Cit. Date: 8 January 2014.
reads so much better than that same person's death registration of either
Australian Death Indexes, NSW Reg no 5734/1950.  Cit. Date: 8 January 2014. ;
Registration Number Last Name Given Name(s) Father's Given
Name(s) Mother's Given Name(s) District
5734/1950 WATSON CECIL HERBERT RUSSELL CHARLES RUSSELL MAY
KURRI KURRI
or
Australian Death Indexes, NSW Reg no 5734/1950.  Cit. Date: 8 January 2014. ;
Registration Number 5734/1950 Last Name WATSON Given Name(s) CECIL
HERBERT RUSSELL Father's Given Name(s) CHARLES RUSSELL Mother's Given
Name(s) MAY District KURRI KURRI
(depending on how much time I spend on it, and yes, this was created using just
the Basic Source

I'm sure I'm not the only one with Australian ancestors and relatives that
would appreciate a SourceWriter template that is going to allow us to have a
properly formatted citation with all of the relevant details from the index
search.

Bit difficult for those of us who aren't knowledgeable about Australian
records, so we don't know what fields you want or why the one you
mention isn't suitable.

Looking at my family file, I see I have used the one you mention for a
NSW Birth Index and the corresponding one for a Queensland Death
Certificate.
