Anne, You really need to send this in as a support ticket.

I tried again with the same result- a part file that wouldn't open. I then went on with some other work and went to the desk top and there was the Legacy.exe file I opened it and brought up the sample file I went to Help - About - General it was V 282 I tried to open anthe file and got this message Error deleting Temple. Error 3167: Record is deleted Would you like to try it again I clicked Yes and no reponse Anne On 11/03/2014 2:51 PM, Ron Taylor wrote: The .part extension will be changed to .exe when the entire file has been downloaded. If the download fails, then the .part extension will still be on the filename. It means that the download is partial. Delete it and try to get the full download. A partial download will not work. By the way, the size of 30mb is a very old message. I have suggested that Millennia update it. Version 7.5.0.278 download is about 47.5mb. The download still works for 7.5 as I have done it recently. The last release to the test group before version 8 was released was 7.5.0.282. There was some expectation that another release would be posted when all the Legacy Family Tree issues with Family Search were resolved so that 7.5 would interface similar to version 8. Without official word from Millennia, it may remain just a rumor. This time I closed everything down but I still got the message The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Legacy along with all files except Firefox is closed I am sorry but this is very frustrating Anne On 11/03/2014 11:20 AM, Wendy Howard wrote: Hi Anne, I'm not an expert on these things, but it sounds to me like your download got interrupted somehow and didn't finish. I've downloaded a copy from that page just now and it completed properly. If I were you, I would give it another try. Hope this helps. :-) Wendy Anne Hollingshead said the following on 11/03/2014 12:11 p.m.: I clicked on on the link /The final release of Legacy 7.5 was Version 7.5.0.278 (Build Date 12 November 2013)// // //Download Full Setup (30 MB)// //Click on Save in download dialog box to save the setup file to disk, then run the Legacy7Setup.exe:// //Legacy7Setup.exe / I got a file named " Legacy7Setup.exe.part" which would not open. Anne On 11/03/2014 8:16 AM, Wendy Howard wrote: Hi Marie, On the download page on the Legacy web site there is a "Frequently Asked Questions" section on the right of the page near the top. There, you will find a link for earlier versions of Legacy. That takes you to http://legacyfamilytree.com/helpDownloadVersion7.asp where - despite the URL's name - you will find links to download six past versions. You can choose to download v7.5 from there if that is what you want. Legacy v8 installs itself in a different place to past versions. This makes it very easy to install it and have a look around while still using v7 (or earlier) for your main data file maintenance, if you want to do that. As I said in another post just yesterday, be aware that v8 will want to convert any older data file to its format, so make sure you use a copy of your data file for this purpose, or use the sample data file provided with the program to look around the program. Hope this helps. :-) Wendy Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com <http://news.legacyfamilytree.com/> ).
