Interestingly if you replace the "-" by " to " then some of these
numeric ranges are recognized. For example 1 to 3 1850 becomes Jan to
Mar 1850. However, if you accidentally tab before putting in the year 1
to 3 becomes (on my system) 1 Mar. The logic defeats me.
