Changing the name of the file in Windows doesn’t change the Create or Modified
dates either …

I noticed also that the date and time of the picture file in Windows did not
change when the filename was renamed by the Picture Center. That is important
when trying to determine which picture files have been changed and may affect
backup software when looking for changed files.

I always use the "Rename" on the Attached Pics tab of Picture Center. Just
tried it and it is working fine (version 8.0.0.414). I seem to remember that
there are problems with the Rename on the Picture List tab even though the Help
says they are the same. Be sure which tab is active when you Rename because
the file that is being renamed is the highlighted one in the active tab. It is
confusing that a filename in the Picture List panel and a filename in the
Attached Pictures panel can both be highlighted since the preview of the
picture in the active tab can only for one of them. Also, you don't enter the
full path of the picture for the rename but only the filename excluding the
extension. The rest of the path and the extension are retained for the new
filename.

I can't find anything about his in the help file. I have Version 8 on a
Windows 7 computer. I renamed a large number of photos in the Picture
Center (like I did with Version 7.5). Then I checked the media links
before I went any further. Clearly I should have checked sooner. I now
have 122 unlinked pictures. I tried the media relinker and all it did
was delete the link. Not the least bit helpful. Anyone have any
suggestions? While I'm waiting for a response I'll be back to relinking
by hand, but I won't be renaming any more photos any time soon.
