Until yesterday my Legacy 8 has run as expected. However I ran File
maintenance and as it finished a notepad file popped named
Legacy8Update[1].txt up to say

  "8.0.0.414,4 March
2014,http://legacy-setup.s3.amazonaws.com/v8/,Legacy8Setup.exe,67505968,64.4";

If I run this file I get a number of adverts relating to Setup.exe
errors. This message appears whenever I open Legacy.

When I try to access the help file I get the index of the help on the
left with the right side blank, and a text box saying "Unable to open
this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot
be found. Please try again later." This is a bit curious because the
Help file does not come from the net - it is installed. So I cannot
access the Help files.

Email (Thunderbird) and internet access (Chrome) to all my usual sites
and a few other sites appear to be working properly on this computer.
However I cannot get the Legacy map feature with Master Locations. When
I try Legacy Home from within the program the headers are there but the
bulk of the screen is blank with a small dialog box "Do you want to open
this file. LegacyHome.htm".

A few days ago I removed Internet Explorer (I hope) from this computer
and from my netbook, but but on this netbook the Legacy Home and the map
function operate normally. I hope removing IE was not what has mucked
things up.

More File Maintenance does not resolve the problem.
I have tried:
1. Shutting down and restarted the computer.
2. Deleting all the USR files.
3. Uninstalling Legacy but it can't find the install.log,
4 . Reinstalling Legacy 8 from a new download hoping to create a new
install.log file but this has not happened. In Program files
(x86)/Legacy8/Backup there are Install.log dated 28 Nov 13, and
Install.001 to Install.023. This last is dated 9 Apr 14 so it was not
created by today's install.
5. Clearing all browsing data for the last week from Google Chrome just
in case this problem was something I had imported and held in the cache.

The initial problems are not resolved. Any suggestions as to what has
happened or where to go next?
Boyd
