Having done some research on a specific Lenape Indian, Lenape is the tribe (similar to the Scottish Clan) and Unami is a subdivision of the tribe (Turtle totem) at the equivalent of the Scottish sept level); there ought a third identifier of the clan (which would be similar to the family). They are part of the Algonquin Nation.
I too have no idea what “Nation Nutimus” means -- UNLESS it's that third-level identifier. If I saw the word anywhere it didn't apply to my guy so I didn't retain it. http://www.newhopepa.com/DelawareRiver/Lenape2.htm and http://www.native-languages.org/lenape_culture.htm Cheryl Michele/Support wrote: > Pat, > > Before I did anything, I would want to see this person’s > proof (documents) since this isn’t your everyday sort of > information.
