I would like to weigh in on the other side of the question. I am an American Indian, I am enrolled at Colville. Chief is not a first name; it's a misrepresentation of a Title, usually something on the order of Head-Man. The way Legacy handles names is one of the reasons I chose it. In instances where the person only has one name, I have placed it as the given name, not the surname. I also place tribal affiliation in a 'Nationality' category. As for researching these people, try the Lenape nation's website. Send a message to either their Historian or Probate Officer. Marie in Seattle
