Pam,

To record a quarter date in Legacy the format is Jun Q 1862. You can have Mar
Q, Jun Q, Sep Q, Dec Q. Jan Q won’t work because that isn’t a valid quarter
month.

“After 1861” is a valid entry as is “Before 1863.” These should not trigger
an error.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Recording uncertain dates

Is there a way of recording doubtful dates in Legacy 8. For example an index
has shown a death which may be for the individual concerned but this has not
been verifiable, or the death is recorded in a particular quarter of a year (in
the UK death registers) but the exact date is not known.

I have written Jan qu 1862 but this comes up as a “Problem”

I have also tried “ after 1861” or “before 1863” but none of these are
accepted by the Legacy programme

Thanks

Pam Sim
