Since you didn't create the backup by going to File > Backup File, you'll need to extract it with WinRar - make sure it extracts to the Documents\Legacy Family Tree\Data folder (assuming you have v8)
If you have v7.5 or earlier, the restore will go to c:\Legacy\Data Delete the empty file you created - open it and go to File > Delete File.
