Ron,
Legacy 8 does not overwrite Legacy 7.5 so until you uninstall Legacy 7.5 you
will have both of the programs on your computer. You can run both programs on
your computer if you wish (I have Legacy 4, 5, 6, 7.5 and 8 on my computer).
You just need to make sure you are accessing the correct data files for the
version you are using.

If you can't find the Legacy 8 icon on your desktop it should be on your start
menu. You can start it manually by going to C:\Program
Files\Legacy8\Legacy.exe and double clicking on the .exe file. Make sure you
are using the Legacy.exe and not the LegacyX.exe If you have a 64 bit
computer this will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Legacy8\Legacy.exe

You can easily put a Legacy 8 icon on your desktop by dragging the Legacy.exe
file using your right mouse button to the desktop. When you let go of the
mouse button select "Create Shortcut Here."

If you can't find Legacy 8 on your computer you have uninstalled it. To put
it back on your computer you can download it here
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadLegacy.asp#Download for free. Once
you have it up and running you can unlock the deluxe features using your
customer number. If you don't have your customer number you can send an email
to [email protected] and we will look it up for you.

If want to uninstall Legacy 7.5 then...

Once you have Legacy 8 up and running AND you have all your Legacy 7.5 files
converted AND you have the new files saved in the Documents\Legacy Family
Tree\Data folder AND you have backed your new Legacy 8 files AND you have moved
all of your media files out of the C:\Legacy folder THEN you can uninstall
Legacy 7.5 :) To uninstall Legacy 7.5, go to the C:\Legacy folder on your hard
drive and scroll down near the bottom. You will see a file called Unwise.exe.
Double click that. Once you uninstall, you will need to go back and delete
the entire C:\Legacy folder off of your hard drive (the leftovers after the
uninstall). If you get an Install.log error, then see this

Subject: [LegacyUG] Legacy 8

Hi I asked this question a while back but problem keeps coming back Question, I
originally bought Legacy 8 deluxe program from the legacy site back when it was
releases and down-loaded it from it site.
After a few weeks I went onto the computer and it was up at 7.5.
I went through a period of severe illness and did not use the program on my
computer much and one day noticed it was running a 7.5 still.
I originally bought the package deal and was sent the book and CD.
So I reloaded it with the CD seem to work for a while the back to 7.5, I have
no idea what is going on and now the Legacy program on starting tells me to
update to Legacy 8 and when I click the OK button it goes to the legacy program
and to down load legacy 8 deluxe it expects me to pay the money all over How do
I sort this mess out I am running Mcafee anti virus program
