Michele,

Ah ha! So the set living flag to No is a known import bug for GEDCOMs? (I know
that I am definitely not a ‘ghost writer’.) Thank you for that information.

Legacy is one of four genealogy software (two US, one UK, and one French) I am
looking at to move my data to from FTM 2014. Eventually I’ll move my data to
one of the four software I am evaluating, or just go back to Genbox (used
during what spare time I had from late 2002 to early 2013) as I have a very
high confidence in that software despite the lack of development since 2007.

So Michele, in addition to the living flag set to No during the GEDCOM import,
I also found (in Legacy only, not in the other three software imports of the
same GEDCOM) the following:

* ‘Include on reports’ checked on for all sources

* An error notice that all surnames are all caps

By chance are these two also known import bugs during a GEDCOM import? Thanks.

Russ,

By chance was your file from a gedcom import? There was a known problem with
Legacy changing living people to deceased when importing gedcoms. That has
been fixed and the fix is scheduled for the next update. The fix will not
change your living people back to living. If you did get this from a gedcom
import, and you still have the original gedcom, I can import it for you using
the new update now and then send you the file. If so, send me an email to
[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> and put
attn.: Michele. I will give you instructions on how to get the file to me.

Michele
