I can probably find the instructions or the executable (Given enough incentive and time), but why? IRC, the whole system died between WIN95 and WIN98; which pretty much means, even if one can construct a TT *and* find the main database, the contact info probably isn't valid any longer. I know of several contributors who have died or had to give up genealogy for various health reasons. Moreover, AFAIK, the database new TTs were matched against was never on-line for "just anybody" to search visually/manually. Steve Hayes used TTs a lot, so maybe he'll disagree with me on Para 2, and if so, I'll be guided by him. I like these two explanations: http://www.genealogyhowto.com/2011/11/tiny-tafel-what-is-it-and-an-example/ QUOTE The form is as follows: Soundex for surname4 characters Space Earliest ancestor birth year (4 numbers – YYYY) Ancestor interest level (1 character (not used in this example) Latest Descendant birth year (4 numbers – YYYY) Descendant interest level (1 character (not used in this example) Surname \Ancestor Birth Place /Descendant Birth place END QUOTE and http://ftp.rootsweb.ancestry.com/pub/roots-l/genealog/genealog.ahnentt is a lot more detailed and useful. I used it on several of my unique surnames and never found anyone researching MY branches -- there was always at least one awkwardly placed generation gap between what I had and what they had. (As in, my earliest ancestor on LineX is 1754; their latest was 1678; or my latest was Maryland and their earliest was Germany.) FWIW, and no I don't happen to have GED2TT on my HD. ;) Cheryl Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://support.legacyfamilytree.com Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
