Hello,
I wonder if someone could advise me as to how to enter a child born out of
wed-lock.
After this child was born the Mother married and had several children by
this union.
Until this week I thought that this infant was part of that first marriage
which I had already entered as such. Now I discover that the child had a
different (and unknown) father. To complicate things even more, the Mother
divorced
and remarried another person and again several children were born. I realize
that any children
born will show as child or child 1/2 depending on who the "preferred spouse"
is. Here, is my
problem; I can un-link the child in question but is there a way to show this
individual (other than
in a Note) and not as belonging to another family as a 1/2 sibling?
I thought that I could unlink the individual, create another spouse, albeit
an Unk spouse, and re-link
the child here. That didn't work. No matter what I do, the child in question,
relinks as belonging to
one of the other family's.This is an important person in showing the correct
continuity of the ancestral line.
As it stands now, it appears that I have a "step sister" marrying a "step
brother" when I create a Relationship
chart!
This Mother and child (especially the child) are very important but how do I
keep them separate from the two marriages
and other children that her Mother was later part of?
I'm using Legacy 8 installed on Windows 8.1
Thanks for your help
