Hi Bruce, Are you worried by the 1/2 children on the screen in Family View? This is just a screen aid to show the children of each of the main couple. The half on the screen doesn't mean step-sibling or half-sibling but covers both. It doesn't show a household that actually existed - the children may never have lived together - just the offspring of both of the main couple. If it doesn't aid you, turn off viewing 1/2 kids. (Right click on a child and look for View on the menu that pops up). So long as the child isn't added to a particular relationship by giving the child a second set of parents (even if one is the same) then they'll show properly in reports. If you have given the child two sets of parents, in this situation they'll show in Family View twice - once as a 1/2 and once as a full.
Note if you follow Brian's instructions (which I think are the best), you can have the Unknown/non-existent spouse show as either Unknown or blank. See Options - Customise 3.11. This "person" doesn't have a RIN but the relationship has an MRIN. Once you enter "unknown" or something yourself, then they do have a RIN.
