Clooz is a document-based program, rather than the usual lineage-linked program like Legacy. You extract all the information from a document and enter it into Clooz. People are tied to documents in Clooz, rather than documents being tied to individuals as they are in Legacy.
The name "Clooz" comes from the clues you can find when going from the document to the person. For many years I wondered why my grandfather enlisted in the army in Oklahoma instead of California where I knew he had lived with his family. Entering information from census returns and other documents into Clooz solved the mystery. He was living with his aunt in Oklahoma when he reached eighteen and could enlist. It's amazing what you can learn using Clooz. The fact it interfaces with Legacy means you don't have to enter the information twice. As another example, census returns may have several related families living near each other. If you use that census return as a source in Legacy, you link it to each individual. If you use that same census return in Clooz, you link each individual to the census and see in one place all your ancestors who were enumerated in that census. It may not sound like it from this description, but Clooz gives you a totally different view of your ancestors. I found several of my ancestors in a city directory that included the small town where they lived. I used that source in Legacy to place each ancestor in that town in that year. Ten years from now I probably won't remember they were all in that one source. Using Clooz I can quickly see all those ancestors linked to that source.
