Hannigan Family Research, Yes, you will lose data if you access your
Legacy data file from a second computer before it has synced with the first
computer. That said, at least with Dropbox, I see a symbol showing files
that need to sync but have not synced yet, so that's a heads up. Plus it
doesn't take very long at all for files to sync, unless by chance you run
out of dropbox space and you don't realize it. If you leave Legacy open on
another computer and access your database from another computer, you also
have an issue.

Main thing is to always close Legacy when you are done. I store mine in
Dropbox and yes, I have had problems :-) because of ME not closing it on
the other computer. Legacy also automatically creates a 'conflicted copy'
to alert you to some mistakes we make like that (I don't really know the
parameters that prompt that)

All of this is only an issue if you intend to make CHANGES to your file on
multiple computers, which most of us do. But if you only access the file
on another computer and don't make any changes, it won't hurt anything.
The problem is that if you add data and the file is still open on one
computer and then you open another one, that new data won't be there
because you haven't saved it and 'synced' it in Dropbox (or other cloud
service); then you add some more new data on the 2nd computer and perhaps
save it properly that time. That new file will sync to the first computer
and it won't have the first bit of data. Then you close and save from the
first computer, and I believe that is where you may get the 'conflicted
copy' but if not, you have saved it over the other one and lost the data
from the 2nd computer. Gee, that even muddles my mind and I'm typing it.
Hoping that makes a little sense.

I think the benefits far outweigh the problems with storing in the cloud
because it is so nice to be able to access it anywhere, including online at
a library or a friend's house or anywhere there is a connection.
