I am encountering failures at start-up which necessitate me clicking "No" twice for "Error opening the Event Initialisation File" seeking Legacy 14.dbm and then Legacy 16.dbm. I am fairly sure that I have tried everything in the help centre and so am now trying to undertake a "Clean Installation" having gone through many permutations of the update routine after deleting dbm files. This does not clear the problem though so I want to try a clean reinstall. My question is : To do the cleanest reinstall, do I uninstall Legacy 8 first and if so what happens to all my data files (he said trying not to panic)? I am assuming that I would use the Microsoft Control Panel method of uninstalling but am worried about my data files. I am using Windows 8.2.
