Hi Carolyn, I'm not sure how you got them in your focus group. When you created the Focus Group, did you choose Ancestors or Entire Ancestor Line? Entire Ancestor Line can give unexpected results as it shows up linkages between families that you may not be aware of. You might try less generations.
If I start from my maternal great grandmother (Winifred Guppy) with Entire Ancestor Line and choose 3 generations, I don't get any of her children. If I choose 4 generations, I get the two of her children who married into the Cooper family because there are links between these Coopers and ancestors of my maternal great grandmother. With these two children, because of the way Entire Line works, comes some of their descendants and ancestors of those descendants - hence my father, his siblings and cousins and 4 generations of his ancestors are included - not at all what I want when wanting to export the Guppy line. You can see who has been included in a Focus Group from the Miscellaneous Search tab, choosing Focus Group. If I want just a particular branch of my tree, I always use Descendants of each of the earliest ancestors in the line (NOT Entire Descendant Line) choosing either all generations or the number of generations that excludes most of the living.
