Thanks for your thoughts. I did mail Jay offline and it worked for
him/her (is "Jay" a boys name or girls name - we don't use it here in UK).

I suspect that no-one outside of Salt Lake City uses dial-up modems any
more - I've sat in the African bush and used broadband!

Oh well, obstacles are given to us to test our ingenuity.
