Instead of making backups, why not just copy them? That's wjhat I do.

And then the thing to do is:

1. Go to Optimize --> Customise --> 6 Locations 

2. Check the default locations for data and media files, and set it to where 
the media files are located, and Save it.

3. Each time you copy files from one to the other, if pictures don't appear, 
go to the same place and click on "Options for Default Settings" at the 
bottom of the screen. 

3. Click "Reset to Use4 Defaults"

4. Clixk "Yes" to are you sure, and click "Save" (at the bottom) again.

You should then be able to backup and work with your media files without 
difficulty. 

This only applies to Legacy 8. Earlier versions were much simpler, as they 
kept data, media, program and setting files all in sub-directories of one 
directory, and not all over the place, sometimes across several disk drives.
