I am somewhat in the same position. Windows 10 moved my Legacy program files to the desktop and it seems I have document files and media folders in my personal folders as well as in OneDrive. I would love any guidance on how to move my program to the program files on my C drive and get my media and document folders in my document files. I moved from TMG and spent hours editing, and really don't want to go through it again. Thanks for any suggestions On Fri, May 27, 2016 at 2:15 PM MikeFry <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote:
I purchased a new win 10 laptop. I took the time to prepare everything properly before loading any programs. I turned off all the "Phone home" options and the "internet connection sharing"feature that lets Microsoft use your internet bandwidth to push their updates to other win 10 users. I then used pcmoverupdater.exe, a free program by laplink (Google for download link) to transfer all my files and settings from my old win 7 laptop. Only then did I install any programs, including Legacy 8. Everything is in the same relative locations as they were in the win 7 laptop and works exactly the same. The key is to not be too eager to load your programs and "try it out" without doing the proper groundwork. In this case patience is definitely a virtue. -- Gene Young Researching Young, Harer, Cox & Sallada With Legacy Family Tree http://myyoungs.atspace.com/index.htm -- LegacyUserGroup mailing list [email protected] To manage your subscription and unsubscribe http://legacyusers.com/mailman/listinfo/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com Archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
