I hadn't thought of that option and have turned it on.

I'm not so bothered about Windows 10 updating but having my computer restart at a time of its choosing rather than mine.

Actually, it has!

By going into Network> Advanced settings, the internet connection
can be set as a "Metered connection". When this is switched on
Windows updates will be shown as available but will not be downloaded
and installed. When I want updates to occur I turn this setting off,
and then back on after the updates have been installed.

The only problem with this is if the printer is on the same network
connection the "Metered connection" will need to be switched off for
printing to occur.
