Hello,
I set my files up so that I have an index and tagging system that shows the relation to me. That way I can tell at a glance which person is mine. By setting the relationship settings high enough, I can see how deep the 'cousins' go. Most of the time, I do not search for anyone born after about 1950, but since those folks are now in their 60's, it is time to begin checking up on them.

I use Tag #3 because it shows up on the Name list and I do not have to change the settings. Also, since I know what it is being used for, I do not mess with it once the relationships are set up. I do update the relationships when I have been adding or deleting folks.

I use the far left col of the regular index for my Relationship Col. The folks who are not related have a blank in the Col, so it is easy to see who is not related and equally easy to see who is a 5th cousin 2x removed.

I do not use RIN's on the Index - Customizing the index is very helpful.

I hope this helps.
