After relocating the files you will need to use the media relinker to find them in the new locations. It should find and fix the links to all the files.

_BACKGROUND_

The path that I used when I created new source media is:

C:\Genealogy Master Images\aaNEW FILING METHOD 2015\surname\first
name\Source Copies\document file name

An example is:

C:\Genealogy Master Images\aaNEW FILING METHOD 2015\DAVIS\Ida
Ellen\Source Copies\birth certificate

When I saved a document or photo to a source, I chose the option to
leave the file where it was and link to it there, i.e. I didn't use the
default media folder location.

_PROBLEM_

_ _

The "aaNEW FILING METHOD 2015" part of the path needs to be deleted for
all of my source media in Legacy as paths are becoming too long for
Legacy to handle. Reference to the 2015 filing method is also no longer
relevant.

The problem is not within Internet Explorer as I can easily move the
surname folders directly under the Genealogy Master Images folder, then
delete the intervening aaNEW FILING METHOD 2015 sub-folder.

_QUESTIONS_

1. Will Legacy be able to find my source media if I remove the aaNEW
FILING METHOD 2015 sub-folder from the path?

 2. Is there a way to make a global change rather than having to change
the path for each individual document or photo?

Many thanks,

Priscilla Glasow
