The other thing is that the 'notes' uploaded via gedcom to Ancestry are
not viewable by ordinary Ancestry members.
I assume this is correct because, Quoted from my tree - "Notes can only
be viewed by the owner and by those invited to the tree as an 'Editor' "

When you enter specific Source Detail you choose whether to include

those screens.
These can be globally reset from Options - Customise 7.2 and 7.3 by
choosing your defaults for these checkboxes and then clicking Apply to
Apply to existing sources. If you just change the default at 7.2 and
7.3 those settings only apply to new sources.
THEN when you export to Gedcom as a way of publishing your data online
via Ancestry or elsewhere, do not use the option to Override source
options ...
Also do not use the Privacy Options to override Privacy
Family Tree Maker had a full sync with Ancestry.
Legacy doesn't. Legacy doesn't have access to Ancestry's API for this.
RootsMagic will but they have delayed the release of this new feature
as it's proving more difficult than first thought.
These interactions are not easy. They're also not always desirable.

In a way it gives me a chance to “revisit” those ancest ors to see if

I remember the days when we used Ancestry sources with images and they
could be uploaded from Family Tree Maker. Now Ancestry wants us to
use their sources without our images.

If you have everything in Legacy and create a Gedcom and upload to
Ancestry, it should include all your notes and sources unless you've
chosen not to include them.
I don't upload notes or events to Ancestry but my sources upload for
the vital events I send.
