If you mean same sex marriages. You can now enter same sex marriages in Legacy 9. No workarounds required.
What is being discussed here is what the partners are called.
This can be set on the Wording Tab of the Marriage Information screen.

This issue has been addressed several times before and Legacy's response has been that there are no plans to address this issue.

In light of the same sex marriage, the wording of "Default Marriage Wording"
in 8.7 needs to be modified to take into consideration partners of the same
sex.

I already had objections from one male-male couple where one of the partners
was identified as the "wife".
I know it can be change in English for "Spouse", but it is not a solution
for languages like French where there is a different term for masculine and
feminine - époux/épouse or conjoint/conjointe.

Probably needs to be added to Mantis.
