I have been a Legacy user since before UltimateFamilyTree, love it, but still learning every day. I Have a problem that I am unable to resolve. My computer tech is limited.
I do most of my work on my Win-10 desktop computer, using Legacy 8 with separate family files for each grandparent, two for son-in-law, and two on adoption projects. Eight individual files, I like to work that way. Several months ago I loaded Legacy 8 on a Win-10 laptop, and all individual family files via thumb drive backup and restore. Worked great! Everything opened fine. Two days ago I decided to make the jump to Legacy 9 on the laptop. I planned to download the free, then add my deluxe number when it opened. I don't know what happened. Legacy 9 never showed up to run. Legacy 8 is locked up with nothing but the icon on the screen, (although the zip backup and pdf files I store at desktop are still there and will open.) Clicking the icon gets "file not found", right clicking and going thru many screens gets me something about file open by another user and controlled folder access blocked. The first error number said to do a clean uninstall and start over. It will not delete! It will not uninstall. It comes up install.log not found, therefore it won't uninstall. Just found Legacy 9 setup.exe in the downloads folder; ran it, ended up with Error 53, file not found. So now I can't get rid of Legacy 8 or setup Legacy 9. Can anyone help me?
