Ian, I purchased a 10-year subscription on Feb. 14, 2023 for $747.50 and received a 50% discount for the first 5 years. I'm in the U.S. I am very unhappy with the company and am planning to blog about it. I decided to delete my existing tree on the site as I only maintain one tree and never updated that one. I then planned to upload the new one. Had difficulty uploading a new tree, got an email notice that it was being processed and I'd receive a notice when it was accomplished. Never happened. I was going out of the country so decided to wait until I returned to try again. In May, I tried to delete the old tree first but it wouldn't delete. Still couldn't upload a new tree and after that attempt, got no notice it was being processed. Ran into Daniel Horowitz at a conference in June and he tried to help me delete and upload (brought the new gedcom on a thumb drive). He couldn't get it to work either. I allowed him to copy my gedcom so that their IT Dept could upload it. Two months passed and nothing was different on the site so I emailed him. Within a week a tech person emailed me back with instructions, and wanted pics of what messages I was getting. This back-and-forth lasted the entire month of August. He was able to delete the tree but I couldn't replace it. What's really interesting is that I was told by Daniel Horowitz and the tech person that once I deleted that tree all the DNA Matches would disappear. I was okay with that as they should repopulate when the new tree was uploaded. Except, my matches never disappeared. I was then informed by another tech person that my problem was a known bug (well, if they knew that why did they waste my time for a month?) and that I should download Family Tree Builder and upload through that. Now it was September and it still wasn't working. I got a new tech person who wanted me to start the story all over again. I admit I was a little snippy in my response because she had all the previous emails and if she just looked at them she'd understand. I then got another tech person. Wanted to start this ridiculous process all over again. Wrote an email outlining everything that had been tried. He responded two weeks ago I'd hear from someone. Still waiting. I don't like blogging about poor customer support but I really feel that this new bunch has no clue what they are doing. When I questioned why I was told that my DNA matches would disappear by two employees only to see that they are still there I was told I misunderstood. Nope, not on my end, plus they admit they have a bug they don't know how to fix. I have stopped using Legacy Family Tree software and have switched to Rootsmagic. Sad to see this go but not the first time - have had to switch from TI84 cartridge to .paf to Family Tree Maker so it's just another go around in the tech cycle. Let us know if you are successful getting a refund.
