Hi Rob, How clearly you wrote and how dead center you hit when you swung at that nail! Aha!! You said <You can have it include the same Source Detail each time or have it prompt you to change it.> That's it!! I somehow thought not checking 'prompt for detail' would mean that the detail would be left out... and of course it was if I DID check it!! Super. I get it!!
You wrote < In the Assigned Sources screen, multiple sources for the same event are grouped, with the Event Name e.g. Alt, Birth, only being shown against the first event. This makes it clear that there is one event with multiple sources. If you have two Alt. Birth events, each with one source, say, you will get two adjacent Alt. Birth entries in the Events column of the Assigned Sources list. This makes it clear that there are two separate events. It works for me, but sounds like this is not happening for you, or maybe I'm missing something?> You aren't missing anything. Mine is working the way you describe; alt birth shows only once in the far left column of the assigned sources screen and then another alt birth source follows without the designation in the left column. It's suppose to be like that!! Well, good. I was thinking I'd left some field or some information out when entering information and that the lack of the event being in the left column would have some disastrous effect down the line someplace! Now what happens when I have a source that proves someone's name and gives another alt birth event? Is it listed beside 'name' or as an 'alt birth' event? Thank you so very much, Rob! I've printed your email and will try all of those great ways to enter, copy and liberally distribute sources. Thank you so much! Marie Hi Marie, 1. Your summary of how the Source Clipboard sounds spot on to me - paste 5 at once or select one from 10 saved. You have a lot of control over the Source Clipboard. You can have it include the same Source Detail each time or have it prompt you to change it. There are different ways to get the info on the Source Clipboard, and not all appear to give you this option. The way I generally do it, is to cite the source normally the first time. Then from the Assigned Sources window which is displayed after you've selected the Source Detail click on the "Copy Source to Clipboard" button at the bottom left hand corner of the window. Normally I'd select Copy/Overwrite Existing. The selected Master Source and Source Detail are then copied to the clipboard. If you now open the source clipboard (click the blue triangle), you will see that both the Master Source and the Source Detail have been copied. Both will be pasted together, unless you check the "Prompt for Detail" box, in which case you will be prompted to change the source detail before it is pasted. Best to try it a few times and see - it's easier than I make it sound! 2. In the Assigned Sources screen, multiple sources for the same event are grouped, with the Event Name e.g. It works for me, but sounds like this is not happening for you, or maybe I'm missing something?
