A GEDCOM file, when opened in WORD, appears to only be a list of data
elements for each person.
Here is data for me as RIN #1:
1 NAME Jack Daniel /Lane/
2 GIVN Jack Daniel
2 SURN Lane
2 NSFX Jr.
1 TITL Jr.
1 SEX M
1 BIRT
2 DATE 19 Sep 1934
2 PLAC Atlanta, GA
1 EVEN Ga Tech, BME
2 TYPE College
2 DATE 1957
2 PLAC Atlanta, GA
1 CHAN
2 DATE 20 Nov 2003
3 TIME 18:40
1 OBJE
2 FORM jpg
2 FILE d:\Photos\Jack\2000-Jack.jpg
2 _DATE 2000
2 _SCBK Y
2 _PRIM Y
2 _TYPE PHOTO
1 FAMS @F1@
1 FAMC @F5@
0 @I2@ INDI

If you knew the pattern used for GEDCOM, you could output the Access file in
that form.

Thanks,
       Jack Lane

Ron,

That would only work if the file is in the exact same format as the Legacy
structure.

Paul, you'd probably better start typing!

Thanks for using Legacy.

Never tried this, but suggest:
make a copy of your MSaccess file, then rename it from *.mdb to *.fdb. The
icon on the new file should change to the Legacy icon, then click the
filename.fdb and see if Legacy can open the file. good luck!

Subject: [LegacyUG] family information in MS Access database

I recently received an MS Access database containing information on a few
hundred people.

Is there any way to format this information into a GEDCOM file, or some
other means that can be used to get the data into a Legacy family file?

If there isn't, I had better start typing! Thanks for your help.
