I offered the Dollarhide numbering system as an alternative to RIN. I can
see that you have different needs-as do others. There are more systems
available for exploring over the Internet if you just type in some keywords
to do a search.

I find that this method works best for my personal use rather than for a
family organization. It suits my areas of research, which are US, England,
and Denmark. At this point I'm filling in, correcting, and verifying more
than extending back on my pedigree; therefore, my numbers are not enormous.
Organizing is a challenge in genealogy but it is a major key to ongoing
success. The time I have taken to renumber has paid dividends. The process
has helped me analyze my information, spot minor mistakes in my database,
and recognize major linkage problems.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. This is a good group for sharing ideas as
well as resolving Legacy problems.

this system is mind-boggling.  2 to the 60th power is ???.
To say nothing of the vast number of crossings of lines
(*everybody* with Icelandic ancestry is descended from the
same people before 1500 or so, many times over)
