Rob,
How do you handle multiple files? Each Legacy file could have the same
series of MRIN numbers. If all names are kept in a single file, some
individuals have a lot of data repeated in "book" reports (eg descendants of
Asa Brown's parents and descendants of Eleanor's parents in Legacy Multiple
Lines for example.)

Almost any filing method seems to work for a small project but some of my
branches have hundreds of pictures available in addition to source
documents. A close relative has 500 individual pictures. A person with local
history connections and three marriages has 300 individual images, mostly
from online newspapers.

I stopped using numbers in 1988 shareware because relatives would send
snail-mail corrections by number and there were two separate files with
descendants of brothers. Later connections were for Robert son of A & B, or
Robert husband of C. -- Elizabeth

Unless you actually try to merge your file into another existing file, the
MRINs won't change.
