Here we gather in a place where everyone is interested in genealogy and specifically in Legacy...and isn't that a rarity! My family doesn't share my passion for either. Reading about the different ways people use Legacy to handle their data is enjoyable for me because here is a place where everyone has been bitten by the same bug. While doing so, I've been trolling through census records the Danes have generously put online...killing two birds with one stone. And if a thread begins to get monotonous, the delete key is handy.
Regarding flaws in the program (and what program doesn't have them?), I think Legacy does a tremendous job of trying to meet our needs. I'm sure there are times when all our whining makes us look like spoiled brats. (Me, too.) I'm happy that they are willing to listen to us. It's called customer service...another rarity these days. Family genealogy is a "hobby" for most of us...although obsession might be a better word. Legacy cuts down on the "work" involved with this hobby, so we have time to share our ideas on this list. I don't object to people worrying about the "frills and niceties"...after all, anything worth doing is worth doing well. Of course, these same people have to put up with my obsession with how to number and file. :-) Is anyone actually "doing" family research? I have one answer for that...it has taken me only 5 years to accumulate data that it used to take people a lifetime to collect, and I thank the computer/internet age and programs like Legacy for that. I think I can spare a little time reading Legacy list e-mails, frivolous or otherwise.
