Two months ago I posted the results of my testing that showed Legacy-produced PDF files do not pass a validation suite although a small selection of other PDF files from around the internet all passed just fine (this gave rise to the part of the subject line that says "Yes, Sharon, they are broken").


It doesn't seem that much notice was taken of this at the time. Now we are apparently in the unfortunate situation where the standard PDF reader will no longer overlook the errors that Legacy introduces into the PDF files they generate. I think far better than Sherry's advice above is:

  I would strongly urge you NOT produce PDF file from
  Legacy because they cannot be read by a variety of
  software, now including the latest Acrobat Reader.

I see no evidence to suggest that the problem occurring with Reader v7 has anything to do with Adobe, just with faulty generation by Legacy.
