Hmmm. I think the problem is more complex than just faulting EITHER-OR Legacy/Adobe. The first problem is why does everyone feel the need to rush out and download Adobe Reader 7.0 in the first place. I've read the new features list on Adobe's web site and don't see that much benefit. Obviously Adobe have changed some of the internal format of the PDF engine or we wouldn't be having the problems. If you read the system requirements for Adobe Reader 7.0, you'll see that some of the requirements leave out many people with older systems.
Legacy, on the other hand, can't be expected to jump in and embrace every release of new PDF engines when undoubtedly their customer base is going to still be using Acrobat Reader v. 6 or perhaps even older. The fact that we can produce a PDF within Legacy is a benefit in itself. And PDF files are definitely preferred over giving someone a Microsoft Word/Excel file, as it can look very different on the recipient's computer! I've seen that happen many, many times. Also, if you give someone a PDF file, they can't mangle it by trying to edit it or change it. That's my 2 pence worth!
