1.) Search engine owner or complier, 2.) "name of search engine" 3.) Online publisher, online published date, 4.) url of search engine, 5.) exmained for scope of search, 6.) search engine access date.
If I remember correctly Ancestry .com bought out Genealogy .com and Ancestry.com is owned by Myfamily .com therefore myfamily.com also owns Genealogy.com. I have no idea about who owns rootweb.com.
examples from the article:
1. Genealogy.com, "All databases," (Online: Genealogy.com, LLC, 1996-2001), <www.genealogy.com>, examined for any reference to A., Arch, Archie, or Archibald Gregory, accessed 25 December 2001.
2. Rootsweb.com, "Rootsweb Meta Search," (Online: MyFamily.com, Inc., 2001), <www.rootsweb.com>, examined for any reference to first name Archibald and last name Gregory, accessed 24 December 2001.
3. Ancestry.com, "AIS Census Indexes, 1790-1870," (Online: MyFamily.com, Inc., 2001) [Original published by R. V. Jackson, ed., Accelerated Indexing Systems, Inc., 19--], <http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/census/ais/main.htm>, examined 1870 for reference to Archibald Gregory, accessed 20 December 2001.
So now my quwestions:
1. From the the sample 1. above would it not be correct to have My Family.com as the [3.) Online publisher, online published date, ] ? 2. from all of the listed web sites below who are the listed parent companys.
website parent company genealogy.com ? rootweb.com ? ancestry.com myfamily.com myfamily.com myfamily.com cousinconnection.com ? mytrees.com Kindred gencircles.com ? onegreatfamily.com ?
If any one web site needs to be correcyted please tell me. If anyone can add the parent company please do so. If there is a major web site I left out please add it. thanks bill daniels
