A cannon. bought about 3 years ago at Staples or Office Depot.
If I remember correctly it is powered by the laptop. I bought it because it would book copy as opposed to a page feed.
There are also hand helds but I could never make one do good copies.
It had an 8 1/2 x 14 bed and is thinner than most laptops.

[Was-- Running legacy from flash drive / jump drive?]

I have taken a thin scanner with my laptop to libraries; an option

Just how do you get the image from the book or microfilm onto the flash
drive while at the library? The only way I know to do it is to make a
photocopy, take it home and scan it into the computer.

I just bought a USB memory stick (called a flash drive or jump drive, has

256 MB

capacity) down at Best Buy. I bought it so that I have a way to store

microfilm

or book images from my trips to the library and Family History Center.
