So, It won't really sort them by birth date, but it will allow you to see the birth dates? When I went to my index view, I also had to adjust the column widths. At first it only showed RIN and Name all the others were hidden off to one side.

In the Index View, right click the table header that begins with RIN, Surname etc. From the Customise Index View Columns dialog, select an empty field and click the elipses at the end of it and in the next dialog, select the field you want. There are nine different fields you can choose from.

I was able to select surname for one field, christian names for another. Select and delete field names you don't want, and use the up/down arrows to manipulate the fields to the position you want.

While you are at it, when you have the fields in the position you want, click the [Save] button and save the layout with a significant name. You can save ten different layouts. When done, click the [Close] button.
