I agree...PHPgedview was really difficult for me to learn. I had to
learn scripting to tweak it up to parr. My site is here:

http://www.alden-bugden.ca/phpgedview/pedigree.php

But it has taken me over a year to get it perfect. I don't allow
logins...I just use the login for my own purpose. Legacy gedcom was
easily imported into the server, but like someone said, you need
experience in using your server, changing file rights, some scripting,
etc.
But for those who are have the time and patience to learn, you can
probably do it. Might take months to get it right. Prone to crashes if
you mess with the scripts and don't put them back to the way they were
just perfectly. Always back up your server contents and MySQL database.
I use the MySQL instead of index file. Much faster because I have a
large file.

This thread is getting slightly off topic for this group. To be brief,
PhpGedView does have a security model. And space limitations are
dependent on what your internet provider will allow. Go to
http://www.phpgedview.net/ for more information. I believe they have a
Help forum and/or a Mailing List.

I would not recommend PhpGedView unless you have a some familiarity with
the server end of things ... IOW a little unix knowledge.
