Thanks, Donna.  I saw that feature when I was evaluating Legacy, but now
that I'm actually using it for myself I'd totally forgotten about it.  It
will come in quite handy, and do what I was hoping it would do.  According
to Legacy's help file, there are a few other words you can use as well:

        "You can also enter the following words into any date field: dead,
deceased, child, infant, stillborn and young."

But the program does accept the words 'infant' and 'young'  (without the
quotes) in the date section. The program doesn't show them as unrecognized
dates.
