<<I bought this Legacy software because I really like it
auto merge function. >>

I have done extensive merging with Legacy, including using the auto merge
when applicable. It sounds like you may have a different picture of the auto
merge than I have observed.

Auto merge will only merge records that have everything identical. If the
birth date is not known, then auto merge will not work. I have noted that
even when both records are nearly identical, if someone has made any slight
change the program presents it for your approval. The program starts the
merge process, then when it notes identical records it asks if you want to
use auto merge, and to let it run through everything to merge all it can.
Once it finishes the run-through, it resumes the attended merge.

While merging, Legacy continually looks for other possible duplicates. I
have started a merge with just 2 individuals, and ended up with over 1000
merges. The problem here is that auto merge only works on the potential
merges already identified. Until you merge the potential merges, the program
does not know about other potential merges. I suspect you will have many
hours of attended merges. Legacy will save your place, but it is easy for
the merge finger to get tired and merge one you don't want. The best plan is
to merge each database as you add it to your Legacy file.

Good luck
