Would someone please explain what a "witness feature" is?
Thanks---

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] V6 Features
Sherry,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I need to move on with my
research and data entry. I have been maintaining data in both Legacy and
the other program that does offer witness/role capabilities. I have
continued to hope that Legacy would offer this very important feature.
Unfortunately, I do not see that Legacy considers this an important
feature. Millennia keeps adding bells and whistles that a lot of users
don't consider important, but doesn't seem to want to put the programming
effort into features that are important. I have been a strong supporter
of Legacy since version 3.0. I can no longer support a program that isn't
able to or chooses not to give the user's the features they find important
and necessary.
I will continue to monitor the list. If at some point in the future
Millennia decides there is some merit in a request for witness/role
function and decides to add it to the program I will consider returning to
Legacy. Of course it will depend on how easily I can transfer my data
back into Legacy and not loose anything.

Ron,
When v6 is finished and ready for final release, you'll get a
comprehensive list of features and will be notified of availability,
although Eastman's article pretty much covered the major new features.
A pre-release version was available to those attending the Legacy classes
at the BYU conference last month, so it *is* happening and getting very
close. We had hoped to have v6 officially released by that time, but it
wasn't quite ready and since Geoff had already scheduled to teach classes
on a couple of the new features, we went ahead with that plan.
I believe Ken posted to the group awhile back that he had *hoped* that he
could include a witness feature but discovered that it would take
considerable restructuring in order to accommodate this. The feature
hasn't been forgotten and we know that users would like to have it.
Thanks for using Legacy.
Sherry
