Hi Margaret,

It is not a bug in the program as far as I can see. I have used this facility several times since installing V6 without problem. My system is XP Home SP2.

Have you tried File>File Maintenance>Check/Repair? This may not work but is worth a try. Failing that I would try uninstall/reinstall.

In the short term at least, I do not think a Hot Boot will affect your HD although it is not something I like doing either

Subject: [LegacyUG] Trouble when engaging the "existing parents icon".

Hi everyone.
Wondering if anyone has had this quirk with Deluxe Legacy 6 > I have on two occasions so far in the last couple of days added two people to the computer whose sets of parents are already in my files, and if I dare press the "parents Icon" to link my new person to their parents who are already existing parents in my files, the menu pops up okay and then goes onto what I call "Freeze Mode" before it even wants to show me the list of couples. It totally locks the computer up at that stage, and there is nothing to release it except to hit the "Hot Boot" and restart the computer again. I run Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, and have set the Compatibility Mode at Windows 2000 incase that was anything to do with it (but it seems not) after it did the same drama the second time I am a bit scared that if this continues it could harm my hard drive by hitting the "Hot Boot" and not being able to exit Legacy or do a save etc, and so rather curious what the heck is going on. My computer is a Pentium 4R and have about 1 gig of Ram, so that should be no dramas, in fact the whole new computer is barely 6 weeks old..
I have a bit over 35,000 persons in my file, but that should be no drama.
Has anyone else had this happen yet, or any clues that might rectify my drama for the next time this might occur?
Will be pleased with any suggestions to try.
Thankyou
Margaret Bauer
