George,

Just glancing through the LUG list before I start my weekend activities. I
see that your message didn't come in until 5:10 pm yesterday. I had left
work by then and we don't work on weekends. Please allow minimum of 48
hours for a reply, longer if the message is sent Friday or over the weekend.

I'm going to have you do a complete uninstall and then reinstall. After you
uninstall Legacy, with Windows Explorer find and look in the C:\Legacy
folder or what ever folder you had Legacy installed in. Within this folder
you will find several files remaining that you will need to delete.
Carefully delete all of the files in the Legacy folder but DO NOT delete any
of the folders like the Data folder, Picture Folder or Web Folder as these
folders hold your data and you don't want to accidentally delete your family
file or pictures. All the other files should be deleted. You'll need to
reset your preferences after you reinstall.

Download the Standard Edition from our website. Versions of Legacy prior to
v6 can be downloaded from
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpDownloadVersion5.asp. If you have the
Deluxe Edition, you'll need to go to Help > Unlock Legacy Deluxe to unlock
the Deluxe features after you reinstall.

**When you reinstall, make sure that all other programs are shut down and
your anti-virus software is disabled.**

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Upgrade to 6.0

Hi gang,
It's me again. I received my CD 6.0 in the mail Friday. I have backed up
my old Legacy 5.0 Deluxe files. Before I did that I Updated to the most
recent build date. Then I proceded to install 6.0 using my CD.
Everything appeared normal. My Legacy 5.0 shorcut disappeared from the
desktop, and was replaced by the Legacy 6.0 shortcut icon.
When I clicked on the Legacy 6.0 shortcut icon the Legacy 6.0 advertisement
window appeared followed shortly by two error messages:
                    1. Run-time 380 (invalid property value)
                    2. Message file record #12601 not found.
I then sent an email to Legacy Support, but have not had a response as of
Saturday 9.00am. In the meantime I am out of business because I can't open
my Legacy program. I carried out a search of all of my Legacy files and
they all were found except those identified as Legacy 5.0.

You are dealing with an inept researcher pushing 80 who needs all the help
he can get. I am open to all suggestions and procedures.
              thank you, George
