I go by my middle name - always have - it's a pain sometimes! Lots of them
in my family. Asked my mother why she named me Elizabeth Sharon if she
planned to call me Sharon - she said it sounded better. ANYWAY - I put the
middle name in quotes. Then you can choose to use quoted names in various
reports.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Use of middle name
How do other Legacy users cope with people who don't use their first name
for "everyday" but prefer(red) to use one of their other given names.
I know that Legacy provides the AKA option, where alternate names are used
and I think that is very useful for people who changed their name, or
where there are variations of spelling, but if a person's given name is
"Arthur Bertram Charles Dawson" it doesn't seem correct to use "Also known
as" to indicate that he was generally referred to as Bertram or Charles
rather than Arthur.
When entering census information I like to use a Census Event and in the
notes write something like "He was living at 2 High Street with his wife
Fanny and their son Arthur." Referring to him as Arthur means he is
easily traced in Legacy or identified in a Report, but doesn't seem right
if he was actually enumerated as Bertram Dawson. On the other hand, if I
write "and their son Bertram" it is not so easy to find him as a person
would look for Bertram Dawson, not Arthur Dawson.
That sounds a bit garbled, I hope it makes sense.
