To successfully enter a Surname such as "van der WYST" do this BEFORE
you enter the person -
Go to Options > Customize >Data Format > Letter Case of Surnames and set
it to Don't Change What I enter
Enter the Surname as you would like it. Then go back to Options and
reset to what ever you like from that time on -- eg UPPERCASE.
Or, AFTER the person has been added, then change the Options etc as
above, and then go to the Individual's Information box where you edit
their details and click on the arrow to the right of their Surname. Edit
the Surname as you would like it to be, and then reset the Options. One
word of CAUTION. This will change ALL occurences of this Surname.
If you want some individuals to have "van DER WYST" and some to have
"van Der WYST" (or whatever variation) and a name of that lettering (ie
van der wyst) already exists then give one person that you wish to
change a dummy surname. "AAAAA" will do. Then Save that person's
information (to save the name to the Master Surname List), and then Edit
them and change the Surname to something DIFFERENT to what is already
Saved. You will then have two different formats for the same spelling,
and can give anyone either of the Surnames.
Now - DO NOT EVER set any Report to show Surnames in Uppercase. You
already have all Surnames as you want them so that option will only
change what you want.
If you want them to show up under V = van der WYST, and under W = WYST
then you need to give them an AKA.
If you cant follow then contact me off list
Cheers
