<<I have read all this thread so far and no one else has queried this, so I
feel I must have got it wrong, but I thought it was "Correct" to enter
Surnames always in capital letters.>>

When computerized genealogy was new, I started entering the surnames in caps. My middle name is my mothers surname, so when the program displayed my middle name it was all in CAPs. I changed it to lower case, but then my ancestors surnames were in lower case, so I changed them to caps, which again changed my middle name to caps. I gave up and typed all names in lower case, leading caps, and let the computer display surnames in caps.

It depends upon how your computer stores the names as to if you can really store the same name in both lower case and caps, and have the computer know when to display which one. It is much easier to let the computer display surnames in caps, without changing how they are entered.
