Thanks very much for the help.
Sorry I have taken so long in responding.
I eventually downloaded Bricx Commander and was able to upload the firmware successfully.

However, i was continually getting errors when uploading programs to the brick.
Thanks tot his topic, i tried putting my brick and IR receiver in a box. Nice and Dark.

Haven't had any problems since.
