No you don’t need the cd, you can download the tower driver from legos
site. The file name is Tower164.zip. Also if you’re looking for an rcx
legoeducation has a set called ROBO Technology Set. These are version 1.0 of
the rcx they are the same as the 2.0 except they have a power jack which is
nice to have. And you’ll be getting a new brick not a used one.

I've got an old Lego discovery kit (Scout version) and would like to
just buy an
RIS 2.0 brick and an IR transmitter to start using lejos.
The RIS 2.0 bricks I've seen on eBay however don't seem to have the
CD-ROM
with it. So this is my question. If I have an IR transmitter, which
I bought
from Lego Education (and didn't have the RIS 2.0 CD) and buy a brick
from
eBay is that all I need to start using lejos?
Or do I need to find an RIS 2.0 CD too?
