Do not get the robo technology (9786) set (unless, of course, you don't want to build any robots). Get the team challenge (9790) set that's about $50 more. It includes all the parts from the RIS 1.0 & 2.0 sets and an extra light sensor. The robo technology set, which I have one of, has 217 pieces vs 726 in team challenge.
